Entryway bench

The entrance to a house is almost like a preview of what it is to come in the rest of the house: this is the first room you and your guests see when entering your home. This is why we find it essential to carefully plan the layout and décor of the entrance, as it has to be functional and be equipped with practical furniture.
There are so many options for your foyer, and depending on necessity, space and budget, you can mix and match a few of these:

  • A sleek console as a spot to drop your keys and mail. We love placing art or a mirror over it.
  • Fun hooks to hang coats and scarves or items you want to keep close to the door.
  • A full height cabinet if you don’t already have a coat closet built into your entry.
  • An interesting bench or armchair to create a spot to sit down and put on / take off shoes.
  • A shoe cabinet to tastefully hide shoes from view.

For this week’s styling we chose a bench from the above options as we find it to be one of the most versatile and practical pieces you can add in your home, especially in the foyer, where it offers a quick seat to slip on a boot, or even as a spot to rest as you wait to leave your home. In today’s blog post we will help you style your bench to achieve a beautiful, welcoming setting that suits your preferences and needs.

Styling your bench

STEP ONE: ADD A LIGHT SOURCE.

Place a pair of sconces to create an inviting, pleasant ambiance with cozy lighting. They also make an attractive architectural addition to the space.

STEP TWO: ADD AN ANCHOR PIECE.

Place a beautiful, large painting or an architectural mirror between the sconces to fill up the empty space and elevate the top.

STEP THREE: GROUND THE SIDE WITH A BASKET.

It is a subtle way to add a storage space in the entryway. Also, it is a good way to balance the visual on one side and add texture.

STEP FOUR: ADD A PILLOW.

Place a pillow on the bench for a more cozy and comfortable setting. It is an easy item to change whenever you feel like freshening up your interiors to keep things new and interesting.

STEP FIVE: ADD GREENERY.

Place a vibrant green plant on one side to add some height and color and to liven up the vignette.

STEP SIX: FINISH IT UP WITH A RUG.

Add a rug to balance the look with some texture and pattern. Plus it is a great way to add a welcoming and warm feel to your entryway.
